Mark Optics relays light from New Solar Telescope at BBSO
New observations of the solar granulation with the New Solar Telescope (NST) at the Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO) allowed a NJIT-Stanford research team to make the next step in understanding of the solar surface structure. The BBSO facility infrared spectrometer, Cyra, will consist of a fully cryogenic folded CzernyTurner spectrograph utilizing a 2048×2048 HgCdTe array sensitive through the 1 – 5µm region with a maximum frame rate of 76 Hz. Spectral resolution (Ro) will range from 150,000 up to 750,000 depending on wavelength. Read more about BBSO’s Cryogenic Infrared Spectrograph, Cyra (PDF file).
