Mark Optics relays light from New Solar Telescope at BBSO
Mark Optics has been contracted to manufacture the gold coated mirror used to relay light into Cyra, the Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO) facility infrared spectrometer. The light is coming from the New Solar Telescope (NST).

New observations of the solar granulation with the New Solar Telescope (NST) at the Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO) allowed a NJIT-Stanford research team to make the next step in understanding of the solar surface structure. The BBSO facility infrared spectrometer, Cyra, will consist of a fully cryogenic folded CzernyTurner spectrograph utilizing a 2048×2048 HgCdTe array sensitive through the 1 – 5µm region with a maximum frame rate of 76 Hz.
